LEGO Dimensions is set to feature characters from fourteen different franchises, some LEGO, some not - including big franchises like Dr. Who, DC Comics, Portal and Ghostbusters. Notably absent, however, is Star Wars. Star Wars has been a popular part of the LEGO universe for many years now, spawning sets, games and films. However, no Star Wars content has been expected for LEGO Dimensions.
However, this new screenshot, featuring the still-menacing in LEGO evil of Doctor Who's Daleks, appears to show a mysterious, hunched, larged-eared figure that looks just like Yoda.
Nah, it's just Batman - see:
Sorry.
Disney has been pretty emphatic that Star Wars won't be in LEGO Dimensions. This stems from the fact that Star Wars-owning Disney also own Disney Infinity, a rival to LEGO Dimensions, and letting Star Wars appear in a competing game would surely hurt sales. Still, LEGO Dimensions is sure to feature a lot of other big titles, and if sales are good, there's still hope that other franchises might be drawn in to the LEGOverse.
LEGO Dimensions
LEGO Dimensions is an upcoming game, due for release on September 27th in America and September 29th in Europe. It's due for release on Playstation 3 and 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The plot of the game follows a variety of LEGO franchise characters who have to deal with the results of a masked villain breaking into their world. What's of particular interest for both game and traditional model fans is that LEGO Dimensions uses the "Toys to Life" format. This format, used in popular games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity requires the player to buy real toys, miniatures or other products, which can then be connected to their game to unlock new features - think DLC, but with figurines.

While this obviously makes for an expensive hobby (and a lucrative trade), it does have one huge benefit for LEGO fans: the range of miniatures coming to LEGO Dimensions.
LEGO Dimensions boasts fourteen different franchises that will be included in the game. These are: DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie, The Wizard of Oz, The Simpsons, Lego Ninjago, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, Portal 2, Ghostbusters, Midway Arcade, Scooby-Doo, Lego Chima and Jurassic World
Now, as any keen-eyed LEGO fan will note, a lot of those ranges are new to LEGO, or only feature a handful of figures. This means a lot of new LEGO sets for popular ranges, plus figures for new sets like Wizard of Oz, Portal and Doctor Who. Both Ghostbusters and Back to the Future are almost-new, given that they've only appeared in one set each as well.

Upcoming LEGO Star Wars Hoth Base? And the best of Hoth.
There's some speculation on the LEGO net over whether we're going to be getting a new Hoth Base soon. The Brick Fan has the story, and the following is taken from their site:
LEGO Star Wars 7749: Echo Base
is an older set, but it gives you the basics for a nice defensive line. And a Tauntaun!

Lego Star Wars Battle of Hoth 75014
has an updated defence line like the last set, and a snowspeeder. So there!

Of course, if you want to build a real battle, you need the troops for it! The Rebel Trooper Battle Pack
and Snowtrooper Battle Pack
will help you expand your battles to epic proportions
If you really want to carry out a proper Battle of Hoth though, there's something you can't miss! The iconic AT-AT, of course! The AT-AT has made a few LEGO outings, in LEGO Star Wars 75054: AT-AT
and LEGO Star Wars 10178: Motorized Walking AT-AT

Of course, if you really, really,
want to make Hoth, there's one thing more important than any of the above kits. TONS of these:
To further speculate that LEGO will be releasing a new LEGO Star Wars Hoth Echo Base set in a few months, there’s a listing in Brickset’s
database that may have just confirmed the set. There’s a
direct-2-consumer set listed with set number 75098 which has a
recommended retail price of $249.99. The dimensions of the box are also
listed at 22.9 x 18.9 x 3.6 inches which is the same size as the Ewok Village (10236)
. That set had 1990 pieces so I’m thinking that the Hoth Echo Base will have around the same number of pieces.
If you haven’t watched the LEGO Star Wars mini movie that could be a teaser for the set, you can check it out over on the minisite. Thanks to Joseph for the heads up.

Good news indeed for LEGO Star Wars fans (although not their wallets)! Of course, the ice world of Hoth has already featured in quite a few SW kits:

LEGO Advent Calenders
With Christmas just around the corner, we're taking a look at LEGO Advent Calanders past and present.
This year, LEGO has three Advent Calenders available. For those who don't know, an Advent Calander is a special calander used for counting the days 'til Christmas. Beginning on the first of December, the receipient opens a window on the calender every day until Christmas. Behind these windows is an item, usually a Christmas picture, a sweet or a small toy - such as a piece of LEGO
This year's Calanders:

Star Wars: A popular range, this year's LEGO Star Wars 75056 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar
features darth Vader in a Santa Costume. Because, well, Christmas I suppose.

This year's LEGO City 60063 LEGO City Advent Calendar
features the usual range of minifigures: Santa, festive crime and small trees abound.

The LEGO Friends 41040 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
is a more subdued affair, offering more accessories than figures - although it does have a deer, which is always a good thing!
LEGO's range of Calanders is pretty much the same as last year, and indeed, LEGO Star Wars and City ranges - supplemented by Friends - present the mainstray of the Advent calander range. For those of you who enjoy the old as well as the new, previous year's calenders are often available at sites like Amazon, and some of the past minifigures offer a unique Christmas twist - see the below links for a Classic Christmas Yoda, among others:
